‘LOT 6’, Mahoney’s Road, Thomastown in Victoria was the secret location of the Ford Special Vehicles Unit and the birthplace of the legendary Ford GTHO.

50 years on from the birth of the GTHO comes a unique opportunity to celebrate all things GTHO right there - at ‘Lot 6’, the birthplace of the legend.

On Sunday 13thOctober 2019, coinciding with the world famous Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 car race, a race synonymous with the Ford GTHO, comes another event not to be missed - the ‘50th Anniversary GTHO Day’

This one-off fund raising event will be hosted by the Ford GTHO ‘LOT 6’ Foundation and the Elite Automotive Group.

All funds raised will go to providing a young mechanic with the opportunity to develop their career in Motorsport to the highest level of F1, through the support and participation of the Kangan Institute and RMIT Universities.

WHAT’S ON OFFER?

Apart from the unique opportunity to visit ‘LOT 6’ the legendary birthplace of the GTHO. The building itself will incorporate a number of displays evoking the heydays of ‘LOT 6’. This is an all day family event, starting at 9.00 am and finishing at the race end.

OFFICIAL WELCOME- A ground kissing ceremony (for the truly passionate!) will take place at 9.am / 9.30am after which a plaque will be laid to mark this historic event

LIVE - Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 coverage from 10.00 am on a massive 3 m x 2 m digital screen

AUCTION - By a Shannon’s auctioneer of 3 unique GTHO canvasses signed by all the members of ‘LOT 6’ back in 2009 and other memoribilia.

THE LEGENDS - Meet and ‘selfie’ with some of the GTHO team

Q & A - There will be a 45 minute Q&A session with a panel of original ‘LOT 6’ members

THE CARS - You’ll be able to inspect and photograph a collection of GTHO cars, with the owners on hand to add the personal details and history.

SCALEXTRIC - A 5 mt.x 2 mt.Scalextric track replicating Mt. Panorama will be available to all, to test their skill and replicate the famous rivalry of Moffat and Brock.

PRIZES TO BE WON - Test yourself in a tyre changing competition, ‘Pit’ style, the old fashioned way, with a wheel brace! Best time wins!

REFRESHMENTS - Morning and afternoon tea and coffee will be served, as will a sit down lunch. Non-alcoholic refreshments will also be available throughout the day.
